Newly hatched nudibranch larvae!

Writer's picture: Debra QuickDebra Quick

My flabellina iodinea eggs hatched after a week. The newborn are called veligers, and they once they hatch from their egg cases, they have a protective case around their organs, but ciliated velum is free. They will shed this case once they settle down and metamorphose into a sea slug.
